Spanish Doppelganger

I am experiencing an odd phenomenon. Anywhere from 2-6 times a day I am seeing someone on the street who looks just like someone I know back home.

And it runs the gamut from good friends to vaguely remembered acquaintances.

It’s very disconcerting. I’m not sure if there really is a resemblance or if it’s a result of being away from familiar faces for so long.

On Being An Artist (Lend Me Your Ear)

One of my co-workers was ribbing me about my first gallery show and the sale of my piece this past weekend.

He told me that all I needed to do now was cut off an ear and I would be all set.

I told him that had already been done.

After a pause I suggested maybe I could be known as the artist who cuts off other people’s ears…

Getting enough fiber?

I was watching the tube the other day and happened to catch this ad for All Bran touting the benenfits of said cereal in promoting regularity…

Honest to gawd I thought it HAD to be a parody. Something along the lines of the old Colon Blow cereal ad on Saturday Night Live back in the Phil Hartman days. But alas, no…this was a REAL ad for a REAL product.

Fremont Troll

My friend Rich and his family took me on a whirlwhind Seattle tour before dinner last night and one of the “must see” attractions is, apparently, the Freemont Troll.

The troll is located under the under the north end of the Aurora Bridge and you just don’t fully grasp the enormity of the sculpture when you first see it.

That is, until you realize that it’s a REAL Volkswagon Beetle in his hand…

Cat Cam

I’m not a huge cat fan nor am I cat cam fan but I am a technology fan and a fan of novel ideas. That’s why I find Mr. Lee’s CatCam quite fascinating.

Ever wonder what a cat who spends most of his time outdoors is up to?
Apparently J. Perthold in Germany did and came up with an idea…

So the idea was born and split into these parts:

1. find small, lightweight, inexpensive digital camera
2. develop a controller for the camera
3. protect the camera from cat attack
4. mount equipment to cat

For anyone who has lived with a feline, the mystery of a cat’s mind is an all-too-familiar quandary. This site does not venture any answers to that dilemma. But it does attempt to record what one cat.the illustrious Mr. Lee.does and where he goes when left to his own devices. Mr. Lee’s human companion, a clever man who lives in Germany, rigged a small digital camera to take a photo at regular intervals. He affixed the device to his cat’s collar and let Mr. Lee do his thing. What came back is an amusing, sometimes fascinating peek into Mr. Lee’s daily activities.

Praise the Lord and pass the popcorn

Living in suburbia it’s quite common to come home and find that the house has been doorknob spammed in some form or another. It could be anything from a menu and coupons from the local Chinese restaurant, pizza parlor or sandwich shop to any number of home repair or lawn maintenance services.

Saturday I found this hanging from the door handle:

I know there’s no such thing as a free ~~lunch~~ movie and there’s got to be a catch. Obviously it’s a promotional gimmick for something. I flip it over and I see this:

I’ve been doorknob spammed BY A CHURCH!

These leaflets are not cheap ones, either. Glossy and full color, they had to be a pretty penny to have printed.

If I read this correctly they’re holding their services at the movie theater on Sunday mornings.
