Cynthia is well underway on her latest quilt. I am not allowed to publish pics yet, but I captured this one from the hall which has been screened and approved for release.
This is one of her coolest quilts yet. I can’t wait till it’s done so I can photograph it properly.
Cynthia had the idea to put together a clone shot that would portray how she sees the distribution of the workload around here. I was able to hammer this out in about an hour. Click to see full size:
Cynthia has created for me a new shirt from a design I came up with. This one is called the Virgin of Guadalupe. It was inspired by the Jesse Trevino mosaic I saw while in San Antonio.

Cynthia is often presented with giraffe figurines by co-workers and friends due to her well known affection for the animal.
Last week one of her co-workers gave her an unpainted, unadorned cement giraffe and suggested that Cynthia could paint it to look like a real giraffe. Cynthia thought about it and suggested to her co-worker that perhaps something more inventive might be in order and suggested that the giraffe might be more interesting painted up like some type of 60’s hippy giraffe.
Step 1: Paint giraffe blue
Step 2: Add polka dots
Step 3: Add red hair and hand made jewelry
Finish up by naming giraffe “Moonbeam”

I sometimes forget how much I love this lens!
One of our more recent weekend traditions is taking a bottle of wine over to Collina’s for dinner. It’s a great opportunity to have some good Italian food and consume a bottle of wine during a great conversation.
Problem is, we don’t know jack about wine. This leads to some creative choices on our part. This week we chose to drink a bottle of Irony…

Most of us didn’t imagine where we would be right now. Sure, we dreamed of being firemen, astronauts, rock stars and superheroes, but life often takes you where you didn’t expect it to.

We went for our annual eye exams. Cynthia’s got a sizable floater due to detached vitreous which was diagnosed a few months ago. This was our first follow up since that discovery and she needed to be dilated so the doctor could have a look.
She’s fine, but probably stuck with the floater. At least the retina’s not detaching along with the vitreous.
We’re splurging for new glasses!
We spent some time browsing around the Half Price Books last week while we waited on their buyer to give us a price on several boxes of books we were looking to part with. While we were looking around I came across a book on sushi preparation. Cynthia had commented several time over the past few weeks that she would like to learn how to make sushi so I suggested we get this book.
Cynthia had never attempted sushi before, but was eager to try. A co-worker of hers named Louis who knows a little about the process told her about a store called Nippon Daido which just happens to be around the corner from where we live. They sell everything you need to make sushi, from wasabi mix to sashimi grade fish. We stopped by on Saturday to pick up the supplies and today Cynthia tried her hand at rolling some home grown sushi.
