Let me out!

My friend Greg had his car stolen awhile back. While he was waiting for his insurance company to make things right he was driving a rental. I was very amused when I saw this.

Yup, a trunk door quick release. And yes, it glows in the dark! Of course if you are passed out or put into the trunk after being chloroformed then the illumination might wear off before you regain consciousness meaning you might fumble around for awhile before being able to free yourself.

The end of an era

Kaveh Kanes is closed.

This is a sadness.

Technology Bytes has hosted our monthly geek gathering there since March of 2002. It was the scene of our 10th anniversary party featuring Drop Trio. It was the only place downtown to grab a good cup of coffee and have some relaxing wi-fi. The space was just COOL!

GAH!!!!

There’s a rumor that two long term employees may re-open it. One can only hope.

In the meantime we need an alternate location for the January geek gathering.
Maybe Cafe Artiste.

Family friendly Fish show

My band, The Flying Fish Sailors, will be performing on Dec. 23rd at Hickory Hollow located at 101 Heights Blvd in Houston, TX.
Hickory Hollow is a fantastic BBQ joint that has a long history of presenting live folk music in Houston.

The show is free and kicks off about 7:00 pm and goes till around 10:00 pm.
Come on out, grab some dinner and lift a pint of holiday cheer with the Flying Fish Sailors!

Hopefully this time we won’t attract the attention of a category 5 hurricane.

Men of Substance

There were a few years at Ren Faire that the band was not playing.
During one of those seasons I was in an acting troup. We billed ourselves as the Men of Substance.
We told stories to the patrons (including the Tale Of Sawny Bean) and walked the festival being as pompous and as arrogant as we could.

The Men Of Substance – 1991
Bill Sanders, Danny Gilles, Larry Boozer and me.
