Framed

One of the luxuries we afford ourselves in our home is having good art professionally framed.
We have a frame shop we use that is owned and run by a wonderful married couple from the UK.

It’s not cheap but it’s always worth it as they are very good at assiting us with choosing just the right matting and frame for our art.

We went to our framers today to see about having a mirror created for the master bathroom.
To our delight the pictures I gave Cynthia for her birthday that we dropped off last weekend were ready!
We were not expecting them until next weekend.

As you can see, they came out very nice.

Viva Las Vegas

It’s official, I am off to Vegas in January to attend the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show, only the biggest electronic gadget show on the planet.

I applied for and was granted press credentials. Woo-hoo! It’s like a back stage pass for geeks!

So it’s 3 days of gawking at shiny new-fangled electronic geegaws and schmoozing with vendors .

I have only been to Vegas once before and that was with my friend John for our Elvis pilgrimage about 15 years ago. There is nothing can compare with seeing an above average Elvis impersonator with the sounds of slots tinking, clinkling and chiming in the background through the whole show.Blue Man Group

Several friends have recommended going to see The Blue Man Group so I have acquired a ticket for their show which has moved from the Luxor to the Venetian.

I look forward to the show and having a look at the new luxury resort modelled after Venice.
Should be a real hoot.

Finally!

The contractors finished up yesterday. For all intents and purposes, the remodel is complete.
Tile floors to replace the linoleum, tile surrounding the tub and reaching all the way to the ceiling, new fixtures, granite counter-tops, two wash basins instead of one and new paint.

Now it’s just a matter of putting in the finishing touches like mirrors and handles on the cabinets and so forth.

I think it came out very well, especially considering what it looked like before.

TRF is gone for another year

Anyone who has seen my band The Flying Fish Sailors play live has probably witnessed the spectacle that is our performance of Loch Ness Monster, a song written by Greg and the title track of our 4th CD.

It’s hard to describe but it’s VERY dramatic and features Greg and myself being rather *ahem*… animated on stage. The highlight is during the chorus of Loooooooooooch Neeeeeeeesssssss Monsterrrrrrrrrr when Greg and I stand back to back and he uses his arms to form the jaws of the monster and I use mine to form the tail.

At our last performance of the festival season we had a very nice crowd of some of our more faithful and dedicated fans. On a bit of a whim I asked the audience to help us out and mimic Greg and I during the song. The result was an audience full of monsters. I could barely keep a straight face.

Wheee!

Metaphorically speaking, it’s just like my life.

Fly Guy

Progress

Great progress by our contractors.
We lucked out finding these guys. Their bid for the job was nearly half of what was bid by larger, more well known home remodelling crews. On top of that they are coming in on budget and going the extra mile.
The painting is mostly done, the recessed lighting is installed and some of the plumbing has already been completed.

Here’s the tub

And the new vanity that will have two sinks instead of the one that was there before
