The power to the house went out right at sunset. As it got darker I noticed that there didn’t seem to be any power on the whole block.
Computers down, Internet down, TV down…
Only functioning technology is the camera.
Time to shoot the darkness!

My poor pear tree. The weather’s been so weird that it didn’t drop it’s leaves until last month and now it’s already sprouting new ones and flowering…

They Might Be Giants
They Might Be Giants put on a great show last night. I did secure my photo pass so I was able to shoot the concert. Sadly, the barricade that is usually in place at The Meridian was nowhere to be seen. That is usually the primo spot to be in for shooting the shows there, especially the big draws like TMBG. It creates a jostle free zone for photographers and lets you have some flexibility.
With the barricade gone I has to jockey for position at the front of the stage which was a huge pain. Still, got some good shots…

Urban Animal Joust
Got a text message from Conn reminding me about the Urban Animal Joust in The Heights. I was able to scoot on down to the Montrose Skate Shop and catch the last few bouts.
There’s just something compelling about adults on skates bashing each other with padded weapons….
It was humorous to watch as the crowd would shout out “CAR” to have the jousters get out of the street, just like when we used to play street ball as kids…
