I was going through some old pictures I took with my first digital camera and came across this one I took back in 2004 of some baby ducks hanging out in my pool….
It still makes me smile. Hopefully it makes you smile too!

Still going through the pics from the trip. We’ve printed out the ones from Madrid we want to use in the scrapbook. Cynthia’s bought some supplies and she’ll likely start this weekend.
Looking at the shots from Figueres I am reminded how desolate and very depressing that small town was. We had taken the four hour train ride so we could visit the Dali Museum. Trust me, you had better REALLY want to see the Dali museum because that is ALL there is to see there.
While waiting for the train to take us back to Barcelona I set the camera to black and white mode and took a few pictures to help us remember the mood of that leg of our journey.
It’s the end of November and the Hibiscus we hacked back to a stump last fall has grown back and finally decided that it’s time to bloom…
I’m home today waiting on a plumber to come and fix a leaking pipe in the ceiling. Since I am home in the daylight I took the opportunity to break out the 300mm telephoto lens and see if I could catch the Sapsucker in action.
He’s losing his fear of me and tends to just go to the other side of the tree trunk as I circle him. I backed off and was able to squeeze off a few shots.
Look how his markings blend with the tree!
And in this next picture notice how the red on his head mimics the redness of the holes he’s pecked in the tree trunk…
This guy’s been hanging around the front yard, diggin’ at our pear tree. Judging by the uniform rows of “sap” holes in the trunk of the tree and the muted markings on the bird I am fairly certain it’s a female Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker which winter here in Texas between October and March.
