In honor of the day, a procedure was inserted into the official flight plan update giving instructions, in the format of established procedural documents, for doing the first burn to take the mated Shuttle/Station combo to Moon orbit with the Shuttle’s jets.
An exerpt: “Caution! Executing this procedure will result in a trans-lunar trajectory. May cause loads exceedences. Propellant may not be available for return to earth. Crew is advised to pack a change of clothes.”
