Cynthia is often presented with giraffe figurines by co-workers and friends due to her well known affection for the animal.
Last week one of her co-workers gave her an unpainted, unadorned cement giraffe and suggested that Cynthia could paint it to look like a real giraffe. Cynthia thought about it and suggested to her co-worker that perhaps something more inventive might be in order and suggested that the giraffe might be more interesting painted up like some type of 60’s hippy giraffe.
Step 1: Paint giraffe blue

Step 2: Add polka dots

Step 3: Add red hair and hand made jewelry

Finish up by naming giraffe “Moonbeam”

I sometimes forget how much I love this lens!
On my side of town they’ve been beefing up the police presence up ever since the various home owner’s associations took the city and Mayor White to task over the rise in violent crime we been experiencing ever since that fateful day in 2005.
As a property owner and and old man, I am getting to where I can appreciate a more visible police presence and it doesn’t bother me a bit to see an extra squad car sitting in the median, keeping an eye on things.
As I was driving home today and sitting in the stop and go rush hour traffic I see that they’ve taken things up a notch…
Apparently the Houston Police are using their mounted patrols to monitor the traffic and look for things like expired inspection stickers and out of date registrations. Fortunately my car is completely up to date so I had nothing to worry about.
I sure hope photographing cops on horseback isn’t an arrestable offence!
There were anywhere from 4-5 of these guys up and down the street along with several squad cars in the local O’Reilly Auto Parts parking lot where busted offenders were being issued citations…and I presume being checked for warrants and so forth.
I know some people will find this behavior an affront to their civil sensibilities, but I say more power to ’em! You see the squad cars all the time watching for the same type of behavior. By utilizing the mounted police the city telegraphs a stronger police presence which will hopefully help as a crime deterrent.
For awhile I was enjoying being the #1 result of a Google search for Jay Lee. Pretty nifty to be able to say “If you need to reach me, just Google me.”
Recently I noticed that I had dropped to #2 and #3 for baldheretic.com and The Helpline Blog respectively with the #1 spot being held by an IMDB page for Jay Lee (I).
A little known film blip of a guy who was easily eating my google dust until recently. His rise to the #1 spot seems to coincide with his lastest cinimagraphic effort, a movie called Zombie Strippers featuring porn star Jenna Jameson and Robert “Freddy Krueger” Englund.

I can’t compete with porn, zombies AND cult-class horror stars bundled together. Sure, maybe a one on one cage match versus any of them individually, but not the whole bundle.
And here’s the trailer.
Of course my linkage only feeds the fire. Hopefully the movie hype will die down and I will resume my rightful place at the top of the search results.
I’ve been amused for the last several weeks over the charts and graphs at GraphJam: Pop culture for people in cubicles. Particularly the graphs used to represent pop songs

But that’s not to say the other pop culture charts referencing movies aren’t great as well…

Over the last year or so I’ve been hearing about Joystix Classic Games and Pinballs in Downtown Houston located near Minute Maid Park on Franklin Street.
Basically it’s a video/pinball arcade featuring vintage games like Asteroids, Defender, Tron, Space Invaders and so on. Plus many, MANY pinball machines. You pay a flat fee and play all night. Pretty cool.
On this week’s show my co-host phliKtid mentioned his recent visit to Joystix and word got to the owner who invited us out to check the place as a possible venue for a future event.
Friday night myself, phliKtid and Groovehouse ventured over there and checked it out. It’s about everything you would expect. Flashing lights, electronic noises and grown men and women grinning like idiots. I played Defender and Tron and even went head to head with phliKtid in a game of Wizards Of Wor. I was soundly defeated. I was, however, happy to see that my mad Spy Hunter skills were still in tact.

While I was roaming the aisles of games I was reminded that there is something that is worse than the band Journey…and that’s the video game Journey
